Mid-Summer Plein Air exhibit at Delray Beach City Hall. This show is sponsored by Delray Art League and is an exhibit of Plein Air Paintings of PAPB contributing members who are also DAL members.  Stop by and see some scenes of the local landcapes in our beautiful Palm Beach County.

An exciting display of art is now on exhibit at City Hall in Delray Beach, Florida. The Delray Art League is host to a “plein air” exhibition of paintings by seven of its members. “Plein air” is a term coined by French impressionists in the 19th century which describes paintings done outdoors on site. This style of painting has long been in existence since then but has gained a significant status in the art world in the last twenty years. Art collectors, galleries and artists throughout the world have made plein air painting a very popular form of art and much in demand.

2014 EVERGLADES DAY PAINTOUT   Plein Air Palm Beach Paints Loxahatchee

March 5, 2014 - April 30th, 2014
Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge
10216 Lee Road, Boynton Beach, FL, us

Plein Air Palm Beach was asked by Steve Horowitz, from the Friends of the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge to participate in the Everglades Festival held February 8th, 2014. Twenty-five of our artists showed up to paint and while visitors for the day listened to talks at the pavilion they could see the artists painting the beauty of the refuge.  At the end of the day we gathered in the visitor’s center theater for a meet and greet the artists.
It was great to see all the work produced that day all up on the artists’ easels during the gathering.  While we were chatting with the visitors, the juror for the exhibit, Maxine Schreiber, circulated around and judged the works presented.   When Steve and Maxine presented the awards, Maxine commented that she was impressed by the quality of the artwork.  I have to agree, I am always humbled to have my artwork being displayed along with the truly great artists we have in Plein Air Palm Beach. The Winners were:
1st Place:     Kerry Eriksen for  “Gator” Oil on canvas
2nd Place:    Lorrie Turner for Pastel
3rd Place:     Linda Apriletti for “Willows and Lifting Fog”   Oil on Linen
HM:                Stan Dornfest for “Joyful Loxahatchee” Acrylic on Canvas
HM:                Sal Sidner for "At the Pavilion"  Oil on Canvas board
HM:                Elfirda Schragen for “Two Trees Trail at Loxahatchee” Oil on Canvas

There will be an exhibit of the paintings produced the day of Festival in the visitors’ center of the Wildlife Refuge that will run from March 5, 2014 – April 30th, 2014.  Be sure to visit the exhibit “Plein Air Palm Beach Paints Loxahatchee” and the take a look around the refuge that inspired the artwork, you won’t be sorry.  Twenty-five percent of sales of any artwork will go to Friends of the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge, a very worthwhile organization.
